The West Virginia Horseman's Association is a voluntary nonprofit
organization incorporated and
chartered in the State of West Virginia in 1947. The WVHA was
created to stimulate and increase interest in horses of all breeds.
The WVHA has adopted some exciting changes beginning in 2006. As an
association, we need to move forward to meet the challenges of our
changing times. We need to listen to our fellow horsemen and accommodate
new ideas to enhance the WVHA's existing programs. Please visit
their website for more information.
The WV Horseman's Association for several years
and KVHA kids have won year-end awards with that association. The WVHA
are looking to increase their membership in the southern part of the
state. The WVHA not only offers nice year-end prizes and awards, but
they also have 2 or 3 scholarships for college that are available to
members of the WVHA.
To become a member, the forms to apply for WVHA membership are on
their
site as is other information relative to that association.
In the past, all KVHA shows qualified for points for WVHA year-end
points awards. This year, the WVHA has opened it up to allow for ANY
show that a person shows their horse in, whether it be a KVHA show or
River Ridge or Danville, they can earn points towards year-end awards by
presenting a form to the show secretary where they showed, have it
signed by the show secretary to confirm that they did in fact show and
then turn in that form after each show to get points. They are NO
longer restricting points to only shows that are specifically approved
by the WVHA; any show will qualify.
Memberships in these associations are good because it helps kids get to
know others in the horse show community PLUS gives them a goal to work
towards and a nice little reward at the end of the show season,
something for them to be proud of and to have for years to remember
their times with their horses and their friends in the horse community.
